The 6th Annual North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC) Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 22 at Mauna Kea Resort’s Hapuna Golf Course.

Sponsored by the North Kohala Community Resource Center, the tournament’s proceeds help with operational expenses for the nonprofit that supports a wide range of projects in the surrounding community. The expenses include office rent, building maintenance, insurance, equipment, phones, mailings and utilities.

The golf tournament begins with a scramble shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and costs $170 per entry, which includes prizes, refreshments and lunch at The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort sponsored by Mauna Kea Resort. The tournament includes a few added attractions.

“We are excited to welcome back Charity Golf International to this year’s tournament. Dan 'Smackintosh' Macintosh will be at the par 5, hole #14,” according to Eventbrite. “For a donation, Dan will smack your tee shot, setting you up for a chance at winning a trip for two to Pebble Beach!”

According to the release, to be inclusive for all golfers regardless of their level of play, the Peoria method of six randomly chosen holes will be the basis of final team scoring by Hapuna golf professionals. Handicaps are not required. In addition, Mauna Kea Resort (808-882-7222) and Westin Hapuna Beach Resort (808-880-1111) are offering a discounted rate for lodging during the weekend of the tournament. Those interested can call direct and use promo code Z43.

Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities remain available at various levels.  According to Eventbrite, these include MALAMA: Be the tournament’s green fees sponsor and receive one team entry, extensive marketing exposure, and hole sponsor signage, $6,600; LAULIMA: Welcome all golfers with an amenity bag inclusive of products from your company and/or of our choosing.
